The Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Institute’s Native American Vote program trained seven native staff and helped them develop leadership skills for future elections. The program was particularly successful in increasing voter participation on Wisconsin reservations.
As a result, voter turnout in 2012 was as follows:
• 14% increase on both the Bad River and Red Cliff reservations compared to 2008 (impressive since they had achieved record turnout in 2008, too)
• 6% increase on the Oneida reservation compared to 2008
• An astonishing 90% voter participation among the Menominee tribal members
