attorneys worked with “Kelsey” when she received a bill for over $200,000 after an emergency heart surgery. Kelsey thought she had BadgerCare Plus coverage that had been renewed just before her surgery. Only later did she learn that her coverage had been terminated without her knowledge. ABC attorneys argued at a hearing that the notices Kelsey received were inaccurate and confusing, and that Kelsey had met the requirements for continuing coverage. The hearing officer agreed the denial was incorrect and ordered Kelsey’s benefits retroactively reinstated.
