Here is a recent editorial from the Cap Times—thanks CT editorial staff!

Here’s an end-of-the-year plug for Community Shares of Wisconsin, the umbrella organization for some 70 area social justice and environmental nonprofits that can use your help now more than ever.

Community Shares, under the direction of Crystal Anders, is a respected fundraiser that was named 2015’s Outstanding Philanthropic Organization by the Madison chapter of the Fundraising Professionals.

The organization annually raises funds for many familiar nonprofits — environmental groups like 1000 Friends of Wisconsin, Gathering Waters, and the League of Conservation Voters. And social justice groups like the Center for Resilient Cities, the Citizens Utility Board, the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups, the League of Women Voters, End Domestic Abuse-Wisconsin and Physicians for Social Responsibility.

Alternative media organizations like Madison’s community radio station WORT and the Madison-based Progressive Magazine share in the annual fund drive, as does the Center for Media and Democracy.

All donations to Community Shares are 100 percent tax deductible. You can do your part to help nonprofits that champion causes to make this a more just and equitable world.

You can donate by going to the Community Shares website or checking with your workplace to make contributions through its payroll.
