The beehives became a beehive of activity at Community GroundWorks’ Goodman Youth Farm. For urban kids, a beehive can be intimidating, but dressed in kid-sized bee suits and with leadership from a bee expert, the kids learned all about bees.
They then used their math skills to figure how much honey the hives had produced and how many jars would be required. The kids went from fear to excited admiration in just a few short hours. And one student described raspberries dipped in honey as “pure heaven”!
