May 2012 Backyard Heroes

Lawrence and Eileen Landwehr, Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Institute
Long-time volunteers Lawrence and Eileen Landwehr are truly a “dynamic duo” for Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters.  Both give time and incredible energy by regularly calling their legislators, helping with mailings, and attending State Capitol hearings.  They spoke out against now-defeated mining legislation that would have threatened our drinking water, lakes, rivers, and Wisconsin’s good conservation laws.

Gene Roark, Wisconsin Wetlands Association
Gene Roark has served on Wisconsin Wetlands Association’s Board for 12 years.  During that time he has been an active member of WWA’s policy committee and worked consistently to recruit many new members to the organization.  Gene is very involved with many other local conservation groups and is always looking for ways he can use those connections to strengthen WWA.
