In late November (prior to the intercity high-speed rail project being stopped in Wisconsin), the Sierra Club Foundation, John Muir Chapter, helped raise awareness of the benefits of rail by organizing rallies in seven cities around the state. Over 1,000 people braved chilly temps statewide to voice their support for the benefits of fully implementing passenger rail:
- 9,570 jobs created
- $173 million in additional household income
The Sierra Club Foundation will continue its fight to offer clean transportation and cut greenhouse emissions despite the tremendous disappointment of having the rail project stopped in our state.
