One of the biggest recent victories for the Sierra Club Foundation, John Muir Chapter, was securing approval for the construction of the Highland Wind Farm. This came after the Public Service Commission denied the project two previous times—but Sierra Club supporters submitted comments that counterbalanced well-funded wind opponents.
Sierra Club volunteer Carol Johnson (on right) was surprised at some of the misinformation about wind energy that spread like wildfire among her neighbors. She worked tirelessly to educate her friends and local leaders about the need for clean energy and the many environmental and economic benefits wind energy has to offer.
