“When I first met with Community Shares staff, I didn’t know much about workplace giving. When I understood the concept—the democratization of philanthropy—I became passionate about the idea,” said Lark Paulson, Director of Membership Services & Administration at Dane Buy Local.
She said that, working at a nonprofit herself, she understands how small amounts can make a difference. “Many people maybe can’t afford to contribute $250 a year. But people can afford small amounts. And when you add these amounts up, it can become significant for the CSW nonprofits.
“I hope more businesses get involved with CSW giving—it’s a great program. Plus you’re investing in your community.” And she added something that’s important for all of the staff at Dane Buy Local. “You’re also giving on a local level!”
