Sustain Dane added eight new businesses to the Mpower Madison Business Program last year. In just 10 months these eight businesses saved over 10 million pounds of carbon dioxide and $300,000 in costs.
These savings are helping the City of Madison achieve its goal of reducing citywide carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 tons by the end of this year.
And to put the savings into perspective, 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide is equivalent to burning 33,844 tons of coal–or enough coal to fill 3.5 miles of railroad cars!
