Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of Community Shares of Wisconsin / Community CHIP (Please RSVP, 608-256-1066 by the morning of Wednesday, 9/21). Our event will be Tuesday, September 27th, 5:00 -7:30 pm at Monona Terrace Convention Center.

In 1971 some people were:

  • Listening to Carol King’s Tapestry
  • Working on the ’72 presidential campaign
  • Reading the Pentagon Papers

And some people were organizing a new nonprofit.

On September 27 join us to celebrate how that nonprofit has funded 40 years of change. We will:

  • View a short video about our four decades of progress
  • Hear from Tammy Baldwin and Mark Pocan
  • Recognize award winners Susie Earley, Bobby Peterson, and Gricel Santiago-Rivera

We are ready for the next 40 years of change. Join us!

Special Award Winners

Gricel Santiago-RiveraGricel Santiago-Rivera
Nominated by UNIDOS Against Domestic Violence

“It’s an honor for me to see how our work affects women months and years later. They become less fearful, more empowered, more skilled at parenting, and able to make better choices for the future.” — Gricel Santiago-Rivera

“Gricel is an incredible attorney–she’s able to guide our clients in the intricacies of family law and immigration law. She changes women’s lives.”      — Cecilia Gillhouse, Executive Director of UNIDOS

Bobby Peterson
Nominated by ABC for Health
Winner of the Sally Sunde Family Advocate Award

“Our work informs our viewpoint that access Bobby Petersonto health care coverage is an essential element in people’s lives. Wit hout that grounded perspective, it’s easy to be dismissive of the significant challenges low-income people face getting health care services.” — Bobby Peterson, founder of ABC for Health

“He encourages his staff to always think creatively, since most solutions aren’t in law books. He credits his mom–and her dealing with her own health care–as the foundation for keeping him grounded and compassionate in his day-to-day work.” — Brynne McBride, Associate Director, ABC for Health

Susie Earley
Nominated by the Fair Wisconsin Education Fund
Winner of the Linda Sundberg Civil Rights Defender Award

“I believe everyone knows someone in the LGBT community.

Susie Earley

Why wouldn’t we want to extend equal rights to these important people in our lives? Fair Wisconsin Education Fund has taken on a critical fight in Wisconsin, and I want to do all I can to make sure that it succeeds.” — Susie Earley

“Susie has written tens of thousands of thank-you notes to donors over the years. Her work saves us significant money and staff time but, more
importantly, it helps us build donor relationships. For Susie, civic duty goes
far beyond voting–she’s passionate about justice and human rights issues.”
— Katie Belanger, Executive Director, Fair Wisconsin
