Megan Powless at training
Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Institute (WLCVI) hired Bad River Tribal member Megan Powless to help engage Native American voters in the elections.

Megan had never been involved in community organizing or public policy work before, but she soon became a persuasive voice in her community. Armed with training sessions and the mentoring of WLCVI staff, Megan meeting with other tribal members, letting them know why their vote counted, and asking them to make a commitment to showing up at the polls. And it worked—turnout was up 14% in last fall’s elections!
