“I went into this to be the best leader I knew how,” said Colleen, a member of the Menomonee Nation, who is a Native Vote organizer with the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters InstituteColleen and Gary (WLCVI). She helped increase voter participation by an incredible 22% in tribal communities last year.

“We built our team; we had weekly incentives, set goals; we encouraged each other . . . Our team was so good they took their skills to help other reservations.” Another member of the team was “my son Gary . . . who was one of the youngest to be deputized to register people to vote.” Wisconsin Native Vote was a big success thanks to organizers like Colleen and Gary, and thanks to WLCVI supporters.
