The Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Institute’s Native Vote Program has done more than increase voter turnout among the state’s Native Americans (in 2012, by 14% over 2008 levels among some tribes). The program also fosters leadership among people like Aurora, who said, “I learned more than I could imagine . . . about the electoral process and specific Native community issues. I was there . . . pushing for an America that we, as Native Americans, are hopeful for. We want to be involved, we want to be heard. . . . I personally feel I was given more than just an opportunity, I was given inspiration.”
WLCVI is committed to developing more partnerships with Native Americans, natural allies when it comes to protecting our clean water, air, and beautiful natural resources.
